  • Then I tried adding my sites to a "Top Sites" thing.
  • Then I tried a Pop-Up Window Exchange.
  • Then I tried a "Guaranteed Traffic" program.
  • Then I tried a "Start Page" Exchange.
  • And finally I tried several "Safelist" email services.

      You've probably tried some of these "Free Traffic" services for your pages. If you have, you probably experienced the same incredible thing I did -- MEASILY RESULTS.

      When it was all said and done, the only thing I "exchanged" was HOURS OF MY TIME for very few visitors and often NO VISITORS AT ALL.

      The Three Biggest Flaws Of These Services

      1. Users Can CHEAT Them.

      The biggest flaw for most of these free traffic services was that they were easy for people to CHEAT. For example, any of the "exchange" type services where you agree to serve the ads from their system is taken advantage of by many.

      The "cheaters" simply create scripts or automated ways to "refresh" or reload pages that contain the "code" that serve the ads. What this does is generate tons of FALSE impressions -- i.e. a real person wasn't actually viewing the ad. This means many of the ad impressions are COMPLETELY WORTHLESS.

      2. The Traffic Is UNTARGETED.

      When we get down to the very tiny bit of traffic that IS generated for free from these services, there is a major problem -- the traffic is completely untargeted.

      What good is an ad for an Internet Marketing product when it's being displayed on a Web Site that's all about GARDENING? Most of the free traffic services are serving all of their ads to all of their users' sites. The users they have are all selling a widerange of products and services. Even if they are seen, most of their ads will be completely INEFFECTIVE if they are seen on an untargeted Web Site that has nothing to do with what they are selling.

      3. The Ads Are NOT BEING VIEWED.

      The other reason many of these exchange programs fail to drive any significant traffic is because people can display the code within the services' rules, but they do it by "hiding" the ads like at the very bottom of their pages. This allowed them to earn "credits" for displaying them, but anyone that had an ad in the system that ended up being displayed there most likely didn't get anyone to click on it.

      On FFA pages, classified sites, directories, top site lists, and others, the problem is that the listings and ads are being published on pages that NO ONE IS READING. These listings and ads are all jammed together and clutter a massive page in most instances, and very few people will take their time to sort through all the crap that gets listed for free -- especially because many people will submit their same ads MULTIPLE TIMES. These ads and listings are WORTHLESS.

      The best Free Traffic model (at least the core concept) that was ever created was the SAFELIST. In case you don't know what a safelist is, a safelist is basically a large database of users that have joined and agree to receive email ads from each other. It's not spam or unsolicited email, it's just a bunch of people that agree to receive email ads in return for being able to send their ads to the network of users.

      Safelists are some of the most popular services on the entire Internet. The "appeal" of them is incredible. Sign up and be able to blast an ad to 25,000 or more people via email.
